1953 Mack C-37 Citizens Rapid Transit No. 87

This bus not currently available for trips.

Mack, best know for it's excellent trucks, also built buses at its Allentown, Pennsylvania plant.  Coach 87 was one of forty five Mack C47 and C49 buses delivered to the City of Hampton, Virginia between 1948 and 1960.  Seven thousand C models were manufactured after WWII meeting a growing demand for public transit.  This diesel-powered bus was used by the City of Hampton for special occasions during the mid to late 90's.  Acquired by CC&T in 2003, Coach 87 was delivered by the City of Hampton in cooperation with the City of Virginia Beach.  Restoration began in-house in 2004 and continued intermintantly through 2010.  In 2010 work was contracted out to Cavalier Equipment in Troutville, Virginia who did a complete restoration and painting of Coach 87.  CC & T would like to graciously acknowledge Earnest Cobb of Cavalier Equipment for his superb work on the Mack.  Restoration work was completed in February 2011.
