Blacksburg Transit number 2616 is a 40 foot, 102 inch wide Flxible Metro made in January of 1987.  Part of two lots delivered in 1986 and 1987, it served its life working for the Town of Blacksburg, Virginia carrying Virginia Tech students to and from campus.   It served most of its time on the Tom's Creek A and B routes with some time devoted as a tripper on the Hethwood route.  This bus was also used for special charters and transporting fans at Virginia Tech home football games.  B.T.  Fitzpatrick III drove for Blacksburg Transit from 1995 to 1998 and drove 2616 many times during his tenure.  Karen Frazier also drove 2616 during her tenure at Blacksburg Transit.  One of the first assignments for the Blacksburg buses in the 2600 series was to transport movie crews to Mountain Lake from the airport for the filming of Dirty Dancing.

Coach 2616 was donated to CC&T by Blacksburg Transit in September 2005.  The 2600-series Flxible coaches ran regular service through 2002 and remained in Tripper and Virginia Tech Football shuttle service until all were retired in 2006.
